Fifth Avenue, Sioux Lookout, Ontario – Commercial & Retail Development
GSPrimo Design Inc. completed a comprehensive geotechnical investigation for a mixed commercial and retail development located on Fifth Avenue in Sioux Lookout, Ontario. The project included a one-storey Dairy Queen restaurant and a one-storey retail building, along with associated parking and site access. The investigation was completed to support municipal approvals and detailed design by characterizing subsurface soil conditions and assessing site suitability for foundations, grading, and pavement construction.
The scope of work included borehole drilling, soil sampling, and laboratory testing to evaluate bearing capacity and settlement characteristics. Based on the subsurface conditions encountered, GSPrimo provided geotechnical recommendations for shallow foundations, site grading, site servicing, and pavement design, enabling cost-effective construction and reducing geotechnical risk. The investigation supported efficient project planning and ensured compliance with applicable Ontario engineering and building requirements.
